Yes there is something you can do about it! You can speak out about what they are doing in public. Referrer is not owned by Google… is existed long before they came around and now they are blocking it from the public yet supplying wherever it benefits THEM. This is not right!

It’s about time Google clamped down on Copyright infringement, taking into account the amount of time people can spend creating their own content, images, etc.

Hopefully other search engines, especially Yahoo and Bing will follow suit!

When this first happened I sort of noticed the changes but didn’t take them onboard. The loss of colour on the left was the most noticeable thing to me but I was beginning to think it was my computer at fault.So now I can dispekll that little niggle.

The question is, why intentionally publish and duplicate your articles on other sites and expect your site to rank for that article ?

The article may get crawled on the other site first and links back to the original articles are increasingly no-followed, blocked redirected or use JS.

They of course do it just to gain backlinks, then have the audacity to complain when the duplicates they created are outranking them.

Those duplicate content only providers such as article directories, mashups should have been weeded out a long time ago. Why on earth has it taken Google so long to realise this? finally they are doing something about it, hoorah

Yep, I think Google have failed to think this one through. Interesting about the Bing tyhing, although i am assuming that Bing will not have access to the super fast versions Google will have in their cache. That is probably a reason for it.

If they wanted to speed up the web they could help by not indexing all the bandwidth heavy junk that fills the internet. This includes their own website that now has so many adds-ons it grinds to a halt on anything less than a perfect connection.

Grumpy old me remembers when every spare bite was expunged from the code to ensure speedy delivery of a website. All we get these days is bloatware.

I agree however this is all part of the master plan to take over the world. Be interesting to see how well a Google hosted site fares on Bing.
